Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi Kalimuthu (born 16 January 1979), known professionally as Vijay Sethupathi, is an Indian actor and producer who predominantly works in Tamil films, in addition to few Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi films.[4][5] Referred to by fans and media as "Makkal Selvan" ("People's Treasure"), he has starred in more than 50 films including several successful ventures.[6][7] He is a recipient of several accolades, including a National Film Award.
Following a stint as an NRI accountant in Dubai, Sethupathi began considering an acting career. He started his film career working as a background actor, playing minor supporting roles for over five years,[8] before playing his first lead role in Seenu Ramasamy's Thenmerku Paruvakaatru (2010).[9] He went on to play the villain role in Sundarapandian (2012), and got his breakout roles with the films Pizza (2012), Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012) and Super Deluxe (2019).[10]
